What is Health ?
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” Jim Rohn
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of symptoms.
In our contemporary life, we seem to relate health to the lack of symptoms or poor health with the presence of symptoms. Our well-being is more related to the way in which our body functions in our daily life, than to the symptoms or pain that we may feel on a given day.
For example, we tend to think of pain as something to be eliminated, without stopping to think that pain itself is the way the body communicates with us about something that is malfunctioning. Our body is asking us to change the way we are doing things. Pain is sometimes called "the gift that nobody wants."
Let's take an example: Is a headache a lack of painkillers in the body?
NO, this is the way our body is warning us that something in our behavior is not being beneficial for him (and us, obviously) and that's why it requires our attention.
Symptoms are just a sign, health is more than that.
To experience health and wellness requires from us to take care of our body. Better treat it well, without waiting for the pain or illness to manifest themselves.
Remember that health is not only to "feel good" because we know that problems may progress for years without manifesting themselves.
For example, heart disease often goes unnoticed until serious disorders occur and are installed. It is reasonable to do our best to reduce risks and to optimize our health, our quality of life and our comfort...:
